A Sheikh has said to us that it is wrong
to spread this warning around. I am sure you will be suprised
right now asking why, when you are trying to tell everyone
something very important. I agree with you, it is very
important to state what is going on in the internet, that there
are groups who are trying to give the wrong picture of Islam.
However, the sheikh argued that by giving everyone their
website addresses, surely everyone will go and visit it to see
what this website is about, and then this website will get a
lot of traffic, the owners of the website will think they are
getting business since a lot of people are seeing the website,
and therefore they will keep on doing what they are
doing-spreading the wrong message about Islam.
However, if we ignore these websites and
not spread their website addresses around they will get no
traffic coming to them, and give up trying since no one has
come to see their website. Plus, children are getting these
emails, they go and check these websites and are confused about
what they read- even if we are warning them that it is a wrong
Quran etc, the devil will whisper to their ears and confuse
them (I've personally seen it happen).
Therefore the sheikh concluded that try
not to spread these websites around because you are actually
encouraging these websites to stay "open"-think about it, you
are actually advertising for these websites-you are actually
advertising for the enemies website!
I pray you understand the sheikh's point
and spread this message around so that we do not spread these
websites around. We can warn everyone in another way,
like-"keep a look out when you read information on the website,
see if it is geniune or not". But please, please do not
advertise for them. There are many many many websites that
displayed false information about Islam and the Qur'an and had
to close down because no one knew about them thus no one
visited them, so they gave up trying. Therefore we do have to
keep an eye out for what our brothers and sisters are reading
on the Internet, if it is the right source from Islam or not;
but there are other ways to warning other Muslims.
Let us think about this, since Allah will
judge us for our actions,
