Poems are the music of the heart

THE VALUE OF A SMILE

It costs nothing, but creates much,
It enriches those who receive without impoverishing those who give,
It happens in a flash, and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None are so rich they can get along without it,
and none are so poor but are richer for its benefits.
It creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill
in a business and is the countersign of friends.

It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged,
sunshine to the sad and nature's best antidote for trouble
yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is
something that is no earthly good to anyone until it is given away.

And if in the course of the day some of your friends
should be too tired to give you a smile,
why don't you give them one of yours?
For nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none left to give!

SPEAK GENTLY

 Speak gently; it is better far
To rule by love than fear;
Speak gently: let not harsh words mar
The good we might do here.

Speak gently: love doth whisper low
The vows that true hearts bind;
And gently friendship's accents flow
Affection's voice is kind.

Speak gently to the little child,
Its love be sure to gain;
Teach it in accents soft and mild;
It may not long remain.

Speak gently to the aged one,
Grieve not the care worn heart,
The sands of life are nearly run:
Let such in peace depart.

Speak gently to the young, for they
Will have enough to bear;

 Pass through this life as best they may,

'Tis full of anxious care.

Speak gently, kindly, to the poor,
Let no harsh tones be heard:
They have enough they must endure,
With out an unkind word.

Speak gently to the erring; know
They may have toiled in vain;
Perchance unkindness made them so:
Oh, win them back again.

Speak gently: He who gave his life
To bend man's stubborn will,
When elements were in fierce strife,
Said to them, "Peace, be still!"

Speak gently: It's a little thing
Dropped in the heart's deep well;
The good, the joy, which it may bring
Eternity shall tell.

PRAYER
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey...

I asked for help, that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things...

I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
I was given poverty that I might be wise...

I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God...

I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things...

I got nothing that I asked for...but everything I hoped for
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayer were answered
I am among all men, most richly blessed!

WHEN THERE'S SUNSHINE IN YOUR HEART

 The world is like a mirror
reflecting back to you
Whatever you have given it,
whatever is your view...

So if your thoughts are happy
and a smile is on your face,
You'll find the world is beautiful,
a warm and happy place...

 So always keep your spirits up
and hope for what is best,
Look for the good in everyone,
and see what's happiest...

For when there's sunshine in your
heart and faith in all you do,
The world can't help returning
that sunny joy to you.

"Don't Quit"

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit—
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is odd with its twists and turns,
As everyone sometimes learns.
And many a person turns about
When an individual might have won
had he or she stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with yet another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than it seems
To a faint and faltering woman or man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he or she might have captured the victor's cup;
And one learned too late when the night came down,
How close he or she was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And when you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—
It's when things seem worst, you mustn't quit.

WHERE DOES LOVE GO WHEN IT DIES?

 If the heart is the place where love comes from,
then, where does it go when it dies?
Back to the heart where it came from?
or turn into tears in the eyes?

Would the knowledge of where love has gone through,
Ease the heartache, the sorrow, and the pain?
why is it one can not quite realize
What a blessing this true love can be.

must one lost love to know it is priceless?
Must one be blind before one can see?

Ah! Where does love go when it leaves us?
we will never know the answer...
until we find love once again!!
