VARIOUS DU'A FOR STUDYING

Since many of us will be doing exams, here are some selected du'a
that may be recited during study and exam times.

(a) Before Studying

* All?humma infa'n? bim? 'allamtan? wa `allimn? m? yanfa`un?
* All?humma inn? as'aluka faHman-nabiyy?n wa HifZal mursal?n
  al-muqarrab?n
* All?humm aj`al lis?n? 'am?man bi dhikrika wa qalb? bi khashyatika
* Innaka 'al? m? tash?'u qad?r wa anta Hasbunall?hu wa ni`mal wak?l.

"Oh Allah! Make useful for me what you have taught me and teach
me knowledge that will be useful to me. Oh Allah! I ask You for
the understanding of the prophets and the memory of the messengers,
and those nearest to You. Oh Allah! Make my tongue full of Your
remembrance, and my heart with consciousness of You. Indeed You
do whatever You wish, and You are my Availer and Protector and
the best of aid."

(b) After Studying

* All?humma inn? astawdi`uka m? qara'tu wa m? hafiZtu. Faradd?hu
  'alayya `inda H?jati ilayhi
* Innaka 'al? m? tash?'u qad?r wa anta Hasb? wa ni`mal wak?l.

"Oh Allah! I entrust You with what I have read and studied. Bring
it back to me when I am in need of it. (Oh Allah!) Indeed You are
able to do whatever You wish, and You are my Availer and Protector
and the best of aid."

(c) Whilst Studying Something Difficult

* All?humma l? sahla ill? m? ja`altahu sahlan
* Anta taj`alul Hazana idh? m? shi'ta sahl?.

"Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If
You wish, You can make the difficult easy."

  wal-kasali, wal-bukhli wal-jubni, wa dal`id dayni wa
  ghal?batir rij?l.

"O Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness
and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and
from being oppressed by men."

(e) For Concentration

* Sallall?hu al? MuHammad wa ?li MuHammad
* All?humma inn? as'aluka y? mudhakkiral-khayri wa f?`ilahu

I ask you, the One who mentions goodness, makes it happen and
