Sahih Bukhari:Volume 5, Book 57, Number 60:
Narrated 'Aisha:
Fatima sent somebody to Abu Bakr asking him to give her her inheritance from the Prophet from what Allah had given to His Apostle through Fai (i.e. booty gained without fighting). She asked for the Sadaqa (i.e. wealth assigned for charitable purposes) of the Prophet at Medina, and Fadak, and what remained of the Khumus (i.e., one-fifth) of the Khaibar booty. Abu Bakr said, "Allah's Apostle said, 'We (Prophets), our property is not inherited, and whatever we leave is Sadaqa, but Muhammad's Family can eat from this property, i.e. Allah's property, but they have no right to take more than the food they need.' By Allah! I will not bring any change in dealing with the Sadaqa of the Prophet (and will keep them) as they used to be observed in his (i.e. the Prophet's) life-time, and I will dispose with it as Allah's Apostle used to do," Then 'Ali said, "I testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad is His Apostle," and added, "O Abu Bakr! We acknowledge your superiority." Then he (i.e. 'Ali) mentioned their own relationship to Allah's Apostle and their right. Abu Bakr then spoke saying, "By Allah in Whose Hands my life is. I love to do good to the relatives of Allah's Apostle rather than to my own relatives" Abu Bark added: Look at Muhammad through his family (i.e. if you are no good to his family you are not good to him).

Narrated by Adi bin Hatim (Radhiallaho anho):
I asked the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) (about the
hunting dogs) and he (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) replied,
"If you let loose (with Allah's name) your tamed dog after a
game and it hunts it, you may eat it, but if the dog eats of
(that game) then do not eat it because the dog has hunted it
for itself." I further said, "Sometimes I send my dog for
hunting and find another dog with it. He (sallallaahu 'alaihi
wasallam) said, "Do not eat the game for you have mentioned
Allah's name only on sending your dog and not the other dog."

Narrated 'Aisha:
(the wife of the Prophet) Allah's Apostle died while Abu Bakr was at a place called As-Sunah (Al-'Aliya) 'Umar stood up and said, "By Allah! Allah's Apostle is not dead!" 'Umar (later on) said, "By Allah! Nothing occurred to my mind except that." He said, "Verily! Allah will resurrect him and he will cut the hands and legs of some men." Then Abu Bakr came and uncovered the face of Allah's Apostle, kissed him and said, "Let my mother and father be sacrificed for you, (O Allah's Apostle), you are good in life and in death. By Allah in Whose Hands my life is, Allah will never make you taste death twice." Then he went out and said, "O oath-taker! Don't be hasty." When Abu Bakr spoke, 'Umar sat down. Abu Bakr praised and glorified Allah and said, No doubt! Whoever worshipped Muhammad, then Muhammad is dead, but whoever worshipped Allah, then Allah is Alive and shall never die." Then he recited Allah's Statement.:-- "(O Muhammad) Verily you will die, and they also will die." (39.30) He also recited:--
"Muhammad is no more than an Apostle; and indeed many Apostles have passed away, before him, If he dies Or is killed, will you then Turn back on your heels? And he who turns back On his heels, not the least Harm will he do to Allah And Allah will give reward to those Who are grateful." (3.144)

On the authority of Abu Dhar Jundub bin Junadah, and Muadh bin Jabal that the Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h) said : "Fear Allah wherever you are, and follow up a bad deed with a good one and it will wipe it out, and behave well towards people."

Tirmithi narrated the hadith and said it was fine

 Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) talked about Friday and said, "There is an hour (opportune time) on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from Allah, then Allah will definitely meet his demand." And he (the Prophet) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands.

to the world and get killed again (in Allah's cause)." (Saheeh Al

Hadith

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as

saying: A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah

than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish

that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from

Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of

trouble) comes to you, don't say : If I had not done that, it would

not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had

ordained to do and your "if" opens the (gate) for the Satan.

[Sahih Muslim Book 33, Number 6441]

No God but Allah

Narrated by Abu Malik (Radhiallaho anho):
I heard Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) say: He who
professed that there is no god but Allah and made a denial of
everything which the people worship besides Allah, his property and
blood became inviolable, and their affairs rest with Allah.

Faith

Narrated by Abbas ibn Abdulmuttalib (Radhiallaho anho):
Abbas heard Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) as
saying:He relished the flavour of faith (Iman) who became pleased
with Allah as Lord, with al-Islam as the code of life and with
Muhammad as the Messenger of Allah.

Volume 5, Book 57, Number 27:
Narrated 'Urwa bin Az-Zubair:

I asked 'Abdullah bin 'Amr, "What was the worst thing the pagans did to Allah's Apostle?" He said, "I saw 'Uqba bin Abi Mu'ait coming to the Prophet while he was praying.' Uqba put his sheet round the Prophet's neck and squeezed it very severely. Abu Bakr came and pulled 'Uqba away from the Prophet and said, "Do you intend to kill a man just because he says: 'My Lord is Allah, and he has brought forth to you the Evident Signs from your Lord?"

Allah would bless ten times

Reply of Adhan

Narrated by Umar ibn al_khattab (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: When the Mu'adhdhin says: Allah is the Greatest, one of you should make this response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. (When the Mu'adhdhin) says: I testify that there is no god but Allah, one should respond: I testify that there is no god but Allah. When he says: I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, one should make the response: I testify that Muhammad is Allah's Messenger. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Come to prayer, one should make the response: There is no might and no power except with Allah. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Come to salvation, one should respond: There is no might and no power except with Allah. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, then make the response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: There is no god but Allah, he will enter Paradise.

Invoke blessing after Adan

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: When you hear the Mu'adhdhin (who says Adhan), repeat what he says, then invoke a blessing on me, for everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah: then beg from Allah al-Wasilah for me, which is a rank in Paradise fitting for only one of Allah's Servants, and I hope that I may be that one. If anyone who asks that I be given the Wasilah, he will be assured of my intercession.

Sahih Muslim Number 747

Allah elevates the ranks (of man)

Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: Should I not suggest to you that by which Allah obliterates the sins and elevates the ranks (of man). They (the hearers) said: Yes, Messenger of Allah.

He said: Performing the ablution thoroughly despite odds, traversing of more pace towards the mosque, and waiting for the next prayer after observing a prayer, and that is mindfulness.

Sahih Muslim Number 485

Prayer an expiation for past sins

Narrated by Uthman ibn uffan (Radhiallaho anho): I heard Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alaihi wasallam) say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comes, if any Muslim performs ablution well and offers his prayer) with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies to for all times.

O my Lord, pardon my sins

Narrated by Aisha (Radhiallaho anha):
I said Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alaihi wasallam), the son of
Jud'an established ties of relationship, fed the poor. Would that be
of any avail to him? He said: It would be of no avail to him as he
did not ever say: O my Lord, pardon my sins on the Day of
Resurrection.

Sahih Muslim Number 416

Prayer for intercession of Ummah

Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam)said : There is for every apostle a prayer which is granted, but every prophet showed haste in his prayer. I have, however, reserved my prayer for the intercession of my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection, and it would be granted,if Allah so willed, in case of everyone amongst my Ummah provided he dies without associating anything with Allah.

Sahih Muslim Number 389

Last Sermon of Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam)

This Sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah 10 A.H in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I don't know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds.
Allah has forbidden you to take usury (Interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived...
Beware of Satan, for your safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have right over you. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to  be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and comitted helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to commit adultery.

O People, listen to me in earnest, whorship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadhan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. You know that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. You are all equal. Nobody has superiority over other except by piety and good action.
Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not astray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Qur'an and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.
All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me direcly. Be my witness oh Allah that I have conveyed your message to your people."

Saying as-salamu alaykum

Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) observed: You shall
not enter paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in all those
things which are the articles of faith) and you will not believe as
long as you do not love one another. Should I not direct you to a
thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i.e.) give
currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by
saying) as-salamu alaykum.

Sahih Muslim Number 96

Tantamount to unbelief

Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said "Two (things)
are found among men which are tantamount to unbelief: slandering
one's lineage and lamentation on the dead."

Sahih Muslim Number 128

Sahih Bukhari:Volume 5, Book 57, Number 57:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The people used to say, "Abu Huraira narrates too many narrations." In fact I used to keep close to Allah's Apostle and was satisfied with what filled my stomach. I ate no leavened bread and dressed no decorated striped clothes, and never did a man or a woman serve me, and I often used to press my belly against gravel because of hunger, and I used to ask a man to recite a Quranic Verse to me although I knew it, so that he would take me to his home and feed me. And the most generous of all the people to the poor was Ja'far bin Abi Talib. He used to take us to his home and offer us what was available therein. He would even offer us an empty folded leather container (of butter) which we would split and lick whatever was in it.

Man is nearest to Allah when

Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: The nearest a
servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make
supplication (in this state).

Company in Paradise

Narrated by Rabi'ah ibn Ka'b(Radhiallaho anho):
I was with Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alaihi wasallam) one
night, and I brought him water and what he required. He said to me:
Ask (anything you like). I said: I ask your company in Paradise. He
(the Prophet) said: or anything else besides it. I said: That is all
(what I require). He said: Then help me to achieve this for you by
devoting yourself often to prostration.

Sahih Muslim Number 990

Way of Prostration

 Narrated by Al-Bara'bn Azib(Radhiallaho anho):

Narrated 'Abdullah:

Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "Do not wish to be like anyone, except in two cases:

(1) A man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously.

(2) A man whom Allah has given wisdom (knowledge of the Quran and the Hadith) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others."

[Sahih Bukhari Volume 9, Book 89, Number 255]

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Allah will say on the Day of Resurrection:

Where are those who love one another through My glory? Today I shall give them shade in My shade, it being a day when there is no shade but My shade.

It was related by al-Bukhari (also by Malik).

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostlen (p.b.u.h) said, "Not to wish to be the like of

except the like of two men: a man whom Allah has given the Qur'an and

he recites it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day,

in which case one may say, "If I were given the same as this man has

been given, I would do the same as he is doing.' The other is a man

whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, in

which case one may say, 'If I were given the same as he has been

given, I would do the same as he is doing."

[Sahih Bukhari Volume 9, Book 93, Number 619]

 Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr:

The Prophet peace be upon him said, "A Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his tongue and hands. And a Muhajir (emigrant) is the one who gives up (abandons) all what Allah has forbidden."

[Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 9]

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as
saying: If anyone gives as Sadaqa the equivalent of a date from that
(earning) earned honestly, for Allah accepts that which is lawful,
the Lord would accept it with His Right Hand, and even if it is a
date, it would foster in the Hand of the lord, as one of you fosters
his colt, till it becomes bigger than a mountain.

[Sahih Muslim Book 5, Number 2211]

Suhaib reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said:
Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and
this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for if he
has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (God), thus there is a good for him
in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it
patiently), there is a good for him in it.

[Sahih Muslim Book 42, Number 7138

 Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari

The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "The example of him (a believer) who
recites the Qur'an is like that of a citron which tastes good and
smells good. And he (a believer) who does not recite the Qur'an is
like a date which is good in taste but has no smell. And the example
of a dissolute wicked person who recites the Qur'an is like the
Raihana (sweet basil) which smells good but tastes bitter. And the
example of a dissolute wicked person who does not recite the Qur'an
is like the colocynth which tastes bitter and has no smell.

whose different parts enforce each other." The Prophet then clasped
his hands with the fingers interlaced (while saying that).

[Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 43, Number 626]

Sahih Bukhari:Volume 5, Book 57, Number 79:
Narrated 'Aisha:

The people of the Quraish tribe were worried about the Makhzumiya woman. They said. "Nobody dare speak to him (i.e. the Prophet ) except Usama bin Zaid as he is the most beloved to Allah's Apostle." Aisha said, "A woman from Bani Makhzumiya committed a theft and the people said, 'Who can intercede with the Prophet for her?' So nobody dared speak to him (i.e. the Prophet) but Usama bin Zaid spoke to him. The Prophet said, 'If a reputable man amongst the children of Bani Israel committed a theft, they used to forgive him, but if a poor man committed a theft, they would cut his hand. But I would cut even the hand of Fatima (i.e. the daughter of the Prophet) if she committed a theft."

Interest

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (PBUH) said: On the night of the Miraj I came upon a group of people whose bellies were like houses. They were full of snakes which could be seen from outside their bellies. I asked Gabriel who they were, and he told me that they were the people who had practiced Riba (Interest). (Ahmad, Ibn Maja)

Sahih Bukhari:Volume 5, Book 57, Number 77:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:

The Prophet sent an army under the command of Usama bin Zaid. When some people criticized his leadership, the Prophet said, "If you are criticizing Usama's leadership, you used to criticize his father's leadership before. By Allah! He was worthy of leadership and was one of the dearest persons to me, and (now) this (i.e. Usama) is one of the dearest to me after him (i.e. Zaid)."

Iman (Faith)

What it is

Hadith - Sahih Al-Bukhari 1.47, Narrated Abu Huraira

One day while the Prophet was sitting in the company of some people, (The angel) Gabriel came and asked, "What is faith?" Allah's Apostle May Allah's peace and blessings be upon him replied, "Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, (the) meeting with Him, His Apostles, and to believe in Resurrection." Then he further asked, "What is Islam?" Allah's Apostle replied, "To worship Allah Alone and none else, to offer prayers perfectly to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan." Then he further asked, "What is Ihsan (perfection)?" Allah's Apostle replied, "To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you."...

Hadith - Al-Tirmidhi, Narrated Abu Umamah, r.a.  [Transmitted by Ahmad]

A person asked Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him): What is faith? He said: When a good deed becomes a source of pleasure for you and an evil deed becomes a source of disgust for you, then you are a believer. He again said Allah's Messenger: What is a sin? Whereupon he said: When something pricks your conscience, give it up.

Ibadah

Shaikh Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said, "Ibadah is a collective term for everything that Allaah loves and is pleased with from amongst sayings and inward and outward actions.

He also said, "Ibadah is obedience to Allaah by carrying out what He has commanded through tongues of His Messengers."

Place your Hope in Allah Alone

Allah, swt, is able to do ANYTHING. The only one we can seek aid in is Allah, swt, who decides EVERYTHING.

The Noble Qur'an Al-Ahqaaf 46:33

Do they not see that Allâh, Who created the heavens and the earth, and was not wearied by their creation, is Able to give life to the dead? Yes, He surely is Able to do all things.

Hidden Sins

Hadith - Al-Muwatta 28.53
Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zubayr al-Makki that somebody asked a man for his sister in marriage and the man mentioned that she had committed fornication. Umar ibn al-Khattab heard about it and he beat the man or almost beat him, and said, "What did you mean by giving him such information?"

Sahih Bukhari:Volume 5, Book 57, Number 62:
Narrated 'Aisha:

The Prophet called his daughter Fatima during his illness in which he died, and told her a secret whereupon she wept. Then he called her again and told her a secret whereupon she laughed. When I asked her about that, she replied, "The Prophet spoke to me in secret and informed me that he would die in the course of the illness during which he died, so I wept. He again spoke to me in secret and informed me that I would be the first of his family to follow him (after his death) and on that I laughed."

Happiness

Hadith - al-Tirmidhi # 2151. [Classed as saheeh by al-Haakim, 1/699, and al-Dhahabi agreed with him. It was classed as hasan by al-Haafiz ibn Hajar in Fath al-Baari, 11/184]

The happiness of the son of Adam depends on his being content with what Allah has decreed for him, and the misery of the son of Adam results from his failure to pray istikhaarah, and the misery of the son of Adam results from in his discontent with what Allah has decreed for him.

  • Allah is the cause of all things.

Gambling

The Noble Qur'an - Al-Ma'idah 5:90, 91

O you who believe! intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansab (stone alters), and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaytaan's [Satan's] handiwork.  So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.

Shaytaan wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer.  So, will you not then abstain?

  • Time to throw out that lottery ticket or sweepstakes entry!
  • Eliminate the words "I bet" from your vocabulary.  You could say, "I imagine" or "I suppose" or "It's my guess", followed, of course, by "insha'Allah."
