Some suggested thoughts to go with wudu…

Muslim prayers are performed after ritual washing. This washing is both external and internal…

  1. Washing the hands to the wrists three times and rinsing the month three times with water from the right hand…asking God to forgive sins of deed or word committed knowingly or unknowingly.

  1. Washing the nostrils three times… asking God for purity to enable the worshippers to smell the sweetness of heaven.

  1. Washing the face three times… asking for the darkness of sin to be removed so that the worshipper can see God’s light.

  1. Washing the right arm to the elbow three times… asking to receive the records of the worshipper’s deeds in the right hand on the Day of Judgement.

  1. Washing the left arm to the elbow three times… asking not to receive the record in the left hand.

  1. Washing the head with the inner side of the fingers once… asking for the worshippers head to be covered with mercy.

  1. With forefingers in the ear, wash the back of ears with the thumbs… asking that the worshipper should only wish to hear good and not evil.

  1. Washing the back of the neck once… asking that suffering may not hang around the neck.

  1. Washing the right foot to the ankle… asking that the worshipper should be led in the path of the righteousness.

  1. Washing the left foot to the ankle… asking that the worshipper should not be led in to the paths of hell.
