16 : 89
And on the Day when We raise a witness in every nation to testify against
their own people, We shall bring you (O Mohammed) to bear witness against
them! We reveal this Scripture to you with an explanation of all things
combined and a Guidance and a blessing and glad tidings for those who believe!
(R)
On the Day of Resurrection, not only will Allah raise a witness from every
nation, He will also bring the Last of His Prophets as a 'witness for the
witnesses' and for the nations against whom they bear witness.
(This very special accolade will be bestowed upon our Prophet (saws)
because, having been the last to be sent, he is the only Prophet who knows
about those who were sent before him; and the Scripture revealed to him is the
only Scripture which confirms both the Scriptures revealed before it.
Apart from felicitations conferred on the Prophet(saws), the verse also
eulogizes the Qur'aan with special commendations that it draws the bottom line
on all spiritual and moral knowledge; that beyond the knowledge offered by the
Qur'aan, there is no more knowledge outstanding because the Qur'aan is not
only about the past and the present but also about the future; it deals not
only with rewards and punishments in the life of this world but also of the
other world; it is not only about the Torah and the Gospel but also about the
outcome for those who received and abused them; it is not only about the
proscription of idols and condemnation of their worshippers but also about the
Glorification of Allah and the emancipation of those who worship Him; it is
not only about the journey of the human soul in the terrestrial domain but
also beyond the spiritual perimeters; it is not only about surrendering to the
Will of their Lord by human beings but also about the tacit subjugation to His
hegemony of beasts in the wild, of galaxies in space, of elements, of the sun,
the moon, the clouds, the thunderbolts, the rain, the plants, the mountains
and of every aspect of Creation!)
