BACKBITING

Rasulallah ( s.a.w ) says, “
In the night of Me’raaj I came across a group of people having nails of copper.
They were scratching their faces with them. I asked Hazrat Jibreel ( a.s ), “
Who are they ?” He replied, “ They are the ones who used to backbite and used to
be after the honour of others.”
Rasulallah ( s.a.w ) says, “ The backbiter would not go to Paradise.”
The Almighty Allah sent
divine message to Prophet Mussa ( a.s ), “ Even if a person dies after offering
repentance ( Taubaa ) from backbiting, he/she would be the last to enter
Paradise, and the one who dies indulging in it would be the first person to
enter Hell.”
Rasulallah ( s.a.w ) says, “
On the Day of Judgement the Almighty Allah would forgive his errors who
restrains his tongue from dishonouring people.”
Rasulallah ( s.a.w ) says, “
On the Day of Judgement, the Almighty Allah would save his face from fire who
saves his brother’s honour.”
Rasulallah ( s.a.w ) says, “
On the Day of Judgement the Almighty Allah would appoint an angel to protect him
from Hell, who defends his brother’s honour in this world.”
Hazrat Ka’ab ( r.a ) says, “
Save yourself from backbiting, because a backbiter would not get relief in the
punishment of the grave.”
Hazrat Ka’ab Ahbaar ( r.a )
narrated an incident.
Prophet Mussa ( a.s ) saw a
man underneath the shade of Divine Throne ( of the Almighty Allah ). He thought
that man must be very close to the Almighty Allah, so he enquired from him as to
how that man escalated to such a high rank. The Almighty Allah revealed, “ I
will let you know three things about him. First of all, he never ever envied
those people who were given whatever they had by the blessing of Allah.
Secondly, he never ever harassed his Parents. Thirdly, he never ever indulged in
backbiting.”
Unfortunately, in today’s
time, there are persons who become envious of those who possess whatever the
Almighty Allah has bestowed. Harassment of Parents is also very common and no
one thinks of protecting himself backbiting. The Almighty Allah give good sense
to all those who are axing themselves Ameen !
Someone informed the saints
Hazrat Khwaja Hasan Basri ( r.a ) that such and such prson was backbiting about
him. The saint sent a plate of full dates to fresh dates to the backbiter with a
message, “ I have learnt that you have gifted me your virtues, so I also like to
give you something in return.”
Saint Hazrat Haateem Aseem (
r.a ) says, “ A backbiter would be a monkey, a liar would be a dog and the
envious one would be a pig in Hell.”
Allah ( swt ) says in the
Holy Quraan :
Al-Humazah

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most
Merciful.

Woe to every slanderer and backbiter.[] |
|
2. |
Who has gathered wealth and counted it, |
|
3. |
He thinks that his wealth will make him last forever! |
|
4. |
Nay! Verily, he will be thrown into the crushing Fire. |
|
5. |
And what will make you know what the crushing Fire is? |
|
6. |
The fire of Allâh, kindled, |
|
7. |
Which leaps up over the hearts, |
|
8. |
Verily, it shall be closed in on them,
|
|
9. |
In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with
pillars, etc.). |
Dear Respected Readers, keep
yourself away from this harmful trait, as it is very harmful and would pull its
victim to nothing but punishment only.
